My Current Top 10 Fashion Picks

  1. Gilet from Zara

This Autumn the Gilet has gained lots of attention, it can be seen around every shop corner and in every high street store, But the question is where did the garment come from? The item began in 15th-century France when workers would wear the button down vest to keep their body warm while allowing full mobility of the arms, similar to why dog walkers wear the garment to this day.

The garment also had a high period in the Nineties, well known as a body warmer and was more of a fashion statement. The Gilet was then paired with combat trousers, becoming a sort of hip-hop activewear style.

You either like the gilet or you hate it. Personally, I love mine, it's easy yet simple and adds something to my outfit. The cut of the garment is really important to each individual person, a cropped look is good for anyone with wider hips as it will appear to sinch you in at the waist. There are so many different styles and looks you can create, with a little search you will be able to find your perfect gilet in no time.

2. Urban Outfitters Cropped Cardigan

The cropped cardigan is one of my favourites as of the moment, whilst it would have been worn with a silky strappy top in the 90s, the cardigan layered with long sleeve tops and graphic T-shirts has become a staple in my wardrobe. The cropped style like the gilets helps shape, so when worn with baggier trousers like mom jeans you will still be able to see your curves.

3. Dr. Martens Leather Boots

Investing in a pair of boots around this time of year is a must, you want something that is going to last, wear well and be comfortable. Sometimes spending a little more money ensures better quality and for an item like boots that will be worn regularly, it's a good idea to do just that.

Although Dr Martens can take a while to break in and at first might be a little uncomfortable eventually they will become a staple in your wardrobe. This is also a great style of boots as it's simple yet effective, it can be paired with jeans and a top and still elevate the outfit.

4. ASOS Top Shop Oversized Mom Jeans in Mid-wash

Fashion Trends come and go but a good pair of denim is going nowhere. Like many others, I've always struggled to find jeans that fit well, from the gap at the back of the waist to the length, if you're a tall girl you just know!

These Top Shop Mid-Wash jeans are perfect for anyone who struggles with the length of jeans, they look great rolled up but also just as good rolled down. The buttons down the front help hold in, shape the hips and waist creating that hourglass silhouette. If you want jeans that will scalp but also give that mom jean look these are a perfect match.

5. New balance 574 Grey Trainers

These New balance trainers are my current favourite footwear option. With a soft sole, I’ve noticed at the end of long days my feet never hurt. They are comfortable, the colour is simple yet unique and can be paired with any outfit.

6. Weekday Standard Mens Hoodie

A basic jumper is a must-have in every wardrobe, this black men’s jumper from weekday is super comfortable and goes with everything. Sizing up or buying from the men’s section gives an oversized baggy look perfect for day to day wear.

7. Zara Long Sleeved Ribbed Top

With Winter soon approaching these long sleeve ribbed tops are perfect for layering. Wearing under a graphic t-shirt adds a little something extra to your outfit.

8. Everlane Seamless Leggings

I am a girl that loves my denim, I’m a huge jeans fan however recently I’ve been really enjoying wearing leggings. When paired with an oversized hoodie and trainers I feel confident yet comfortable, it also makes a great university or work outfit. Finding leggings that are not see-through can be a bit of a challenge, these Everlane seamless leggings are a great option.

9. Gold Jewellery

I’ve always been one to wear silver jewellery, it technically suits my skin colour better however I’ve been mixing it up lately and opting for more gold jewellery. It’s fun to change things up sometimes, fashion is all about having fun so don’t take ‘rules’ too seriously.

10. Hair Scrunches

Adding accessories to every outfit is what builds character and reflects your personality. Scrunchies are a great accessories as they are useful as well as add a little colour to every outfit.
