My Autumn Makeup Must Haves

From summer to winter to the confusing weather of autumn our makeup bags find themselves in a bit of limbo. With the changing weather and the effect it can have on our skin, updating your makeup to fit the time of year can be a useful trick to keep that glow.

Foundation

I find that keeping makeup light and moisturising around this time of year makes a huge difference to the way makeup lays and appears on my skin. Most people experience dry and sensitive skin as soon as the weather gets colder, so using products that moisturise as well as perfect and enhance natural appearance gives a subtle yet beautiful complexion.

Top Tip

Using a concealer as a foundation is my favourite way to create a light base. Only apply the concealer where you think you need it!

For those days when I need a little extra coverage, I skip the concealer and opt for a medium coverage foundation that is buildable. My favourite is the Rimmel London lasting Matte foundation, although this foundation states that it has a matte finish, it is light on the skin, gives a soft finish and doesn’t take away any moisture.

Under Eye Concealer

Add a lighter concealer under my eyes gives a brighter appearance, just a couple dots under the eyes will lift and illuminate the skin. Also applying Product with clean hands or a beauty blender allows the makeup to sit on the skin nicely.

Bronzer

Bronzer is my favourite makeup product, adding a colour sculpts and shapes the face. For a simple day time look stick to using a warmer bronzer to give a sun kissed look however using an ashy shade can give a sharper look, perfect for nights out.

Blush

When I first started wearing makeup I didn't really see the point of blush so I hardly ever wore it. The revolution heart breakers blush completely changed my opinion, with a mix of matt and shimmer tones, you get a perfect rose cheek as well as a slight highlight. cream blush is also a great op, the glossier cloud paints are a great alternative for sensitive or dry skin, ensuring your skin is hydration as well as giving a subtle flush of colour.

Highlighter

When it comes to highlighters I prefer a light sheen, cream highlighters are perfect for this result however they never last all day and can sometimes give a more sweaty effect. opt for a powder as it's easier to control, so I can top up whenever I want throughout the day depending on how my skin feels.

Brows

Brow gels are an amazing way to create fluffy, thick brows with little effort and product. I personally like any gel that's long-lasting and has a small applicator making it easy to apply. One of my favourites is the Glossier Boy Brow as it lasts all day and shapes my brows perfecting as well as making them look fuller.

Mascara

I know most people love a full, thick lash but I prefer a more laid back look. I usually apply my mascara with caution, making sure to only apply where needed avoiding clumps. A great trick to enhance natural beauty is to apply brown mascara instead of black.
