Best And Worst Makeup Purchases
Foundation
The Estée Lauder Double wear foundation is a great option for anyone that wants a full coverage look, for example, I used this product when I was struggling with teenage acne, it is a super buildable product so if you wanted a more natural look you could just apply less.
When it comes to foundation you don’t really want it to be too noticeable, even if you prefer a full coverage look, your skin should still feel and appear light. When I first tried using the Maybelline Matte Mouse, I thought it would be a perfect way to create that natural look however it actually did the opposite, I could see the foundation laying right on top of the skin.
Concealer
The Mac Pro Longwear concealer is full coverage, light and crease-free product. Even though I am such a big fan of the natural look, using full coverage products never scares me as it’s all about how much and where you place the product, sometimes its actually more effective and cheaper to use a more concentrated product.
I found the E.l.f ‘hydrating’ concealer is actually the furthest thing from moisturising. When it comes to under-eye products, making sure the skin stays hydrated is so important as it will affect the way your makeup appears throughout the day. There are so many other great affordable products that would be much better for your skin.
Powder
The Stay Matte powder has been a solid staple in my makeup collection since I started wearing makeup. its light, non-scented and lays seamlessly on top of concealer.
loose powders are not my favourite type of product for the pure fact they are just so messy and on mornings when in a rush the last thing you need is powder everywhere. The e.l.f powder is drying, it left my skin feeling crusty and dehydrated.
Mascara
From lash lifts to lash extensions, there are so many great options that would lead to no need for mascara, so when trying new mascaras I always compare them to what I could have someone in a salon create. The better than sex mascara is without a doubt the best mascara I have ever used. I love the lengthening and thickening qualities, its long-wear formula is also great for those long days.
I found the LÓreal Paris Bambi Mascara to be clumpy, thick and nowhere near as long-lasting.
Lipstick
When it comes to lipstick I look for three things, how many colours are available, how long the colour lasts and how comfortable it is. MAC lipsticks rank high on my list, they are hydrating and have good pigmentation, a great option for nights out.
The Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick is highly scented, some people like that however I prefer a non-fragrant product. I find it drying, not very long-lasting and contains a slight shimmer that feels slightly gritty as it starts to wear.
